Moi Nyatike High School was started in 1990 by the former PC, Mr. Oyier Antony and PS Mr. Hezekiah Oyugi. It is under the sponsorship of African Inland Church (AIC). Its fist principal was Mr. Killion J. Adwar from 1990 – 1993. However during that period, no actual learning took place as it lacked dormitories and other basic physical amenities.
In 1994, Mr Adwar was transferred and Mr. Henry James Athembo came in. he immediately converted one of the classrooms to be dormitory and this how the registrations of the first 15 students in February 1994. From then, Moi kicked off and has seen tremendous development to date.
In 1997, the first form four class did their KCSE, the candidates passed well registering a mean score of 4.75 (C-). In 1998, under the headship Mr. Obwogo, the school attained a mean score of 6.628 registering an improvement index of 2.0. Infact this was the year Moi Nyatike became the best improved school in Kenya scooping the prestigious Shell BP Award of academic excellence. Since then, Moi Nyatike has maintained an impressive academic performance.
